BANKS
Vietnam's banks can be categorized into 3 main groups:

1.       Branches of Foreign Banks - These include leading international banks such as Citibank, HSBC, ANZ and Standard Chartered. Historically these banks focused on servicing their multinational customers in Vietnam, but they are increasingly focusing on larger Vietnamese companies.

2.       State Owned Banks – Banks such as Vietcombank, Indovina, Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Agribank have historically focused of state owned companies, but to some extent do provide credit to the local private sector.

3.       Joint Stock Banks – The join stock banks such as Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Sacombank, East Asia Bank and VP Bank are strongest in retail banking, and focus on extending credit to private companies and homeowners.

LEASING
There are several leasing companies in Vietnam such as Vietnam International Leasing Company (VILC). Several of the state owned banks also have leasing company subsidiaries.
